In October 2019, Kurds from across London cried out against Turkey’s ongoing invasion of Syria, and the UK’s lack of intervention.

Despite being only a few hundred strong, this rally had the kind of intensity that, at the time, felt impossible for anyone to ignore. But, as one of the protestors told me, “the whole world is watching and yet no-one is saying anything.”

The timing of the march coincided with Extinction Rebellion’s dramatic takeover of nearby Trafalgar Square, which drew the eyes of the media, politicians, and the public. I tried to capture the frustration of a people desparately struggling to be heard.
