Sparked by the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police, protests erupted across the US - and then the world - demanding that the officers involved face justice, and that wider action is taken to address discrimination towards the black community.

Despite the UK still being in lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic, around 15,000 people gathered at Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester to support the Black Lives Matter movement. The demonstration was emotional and impassioned, but entirely peaceful.
